MULLEIN
(100) [460-7]
Soothing, antibiotic lymphatic cleanser.
Verbascum thapsus
Mullein leaf soothes irritated and painful mucous membranes.
By protecting sinus membranes, for instance, potent allergens cause less
distress. Its ability to reduce swelling makes it helpful for diarrhea,
water retention, bronchitis, arthritis, etc.
It is used externally in poultices.
It has been mixed 4:1 with lobelia to clear congested lymph nodes.
Dr. John Christopher made teas combination popular.
Difficult wounds are helped by a mullein poultice.
Internally, mullein inhibits bacteria including tuberculosis.
It is also effective against viral infections as well. It is a good respiratory
decongestant and expectorant.
Mullein helps heal hemorrhoids; it is soothing, drying (astringent) anti-inflammatory
as well.
