Common Health Issues

Four types of pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS)

The hormones in our bodies are especially sensitive to diet and nutrition.
PMS and menstrual cramping are not diseases, but rather, symptoms of poor nutrition. Medical science recognizes four types of pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS). These correspond to distinct hormonal imbalances and can be helped with distinct sets of natural therapies.

I. Anxiety type (PMS-A)
Produces anxiety, irritability, mood swings and nervous tension. It is associated with high estrogens and low progesterone. It is aggravated by general poor nutrition and often involves liver congestion.
Reduce consumption of fat and dairy products. Use bitter liver herbs and formulas such as the ones below

Liver Balance

The Chinese call this formula tiao he, which can be translated to mean "harmonizing."
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is used to support both the digestive and nervous systems, optimizing liver health and reducing stress.
Its primary herbs-scute, peony, bupleurum and atractylodes-have been used traditionally to maintain normal nervous system function during mental stress and to support the upper digestive system during tension and distress.

and BP-X

BP-X

  "Blood Purifier par excellence!"
This traditional formula enhances the body's maintenance systems; bowels, kidneys, digestion, skin and immunity.
The herbs such as yellow dock are rich in iron needed for strong blood oxygenation capacity.
Caution if chronic weakness in the digestive system; building may be needed before undertaking a strong cleansing program.
.

Pro-G-Yam Cream

  Highest content of phyto-progesterone.

It has been created to combat the troublesome effects of estrogen by restoring progesterone naturally and subsequently restoring hormonal balance.

  Anxiety, nervousness and Stress.
For temporary relief of symptoms of anxiety, nervousness and stress.

II. Craving type (PMS-C)
Produces food cravings with headache (especially sugar), fatigue, dizziness, and palpitations. It is associated with low prostaglandins and low blood sugar. Avoid table salt and eat smaller, more-frequent meals without simple sugars and starches. Licorice root, magnesium and Omega-3 oils from sources such as Evening primrose oil may help.

Licorice root

Licorice feeds and activates the adrenal glands for a higher, more even level of energy. It has hormone-building effects. It is used by hypoglycemics to improve blood sugar regulation.

Magnesium complex

Magnesium is necessary for the metabolism of vitamin C, phosphorus, potassium and sodium. It is important to the nervous system and for the synthesis of certain proteins.
It governs how calcium is used in the body.

Evening Primrose Oil

Fatty acids are required for many body functions including regulating temperature, building nerve sheaths, and producing energy. Used to build prostaglandins which are required for many other critical bio-chemical processes.

III. Depression type (PMS-D)
Produces depression, crying, forgetfulness, confusion, and insomnia. It is associated with low estrogens, high progesterone, and elevated aldosterone. Magnesium levels tend to be very low and nerve-damaging heavy metals, especially lead, may be high. Nervine supplements such as Nutri-Calm, Stress-J, and Mood Elevator may help. If not taking Nutri-Calm, add B complex vitamins and maybe some extra vitamin B6.

Mind-Max

Nutri-Calm is a soothing blend of vitamins, minerals and herbs to help the nervous system cope with both short-term and long-term stress.

Super Antioxidant

It is helpful for sadness, depression, fatigue, insomnia and anxiety. Mood Elevator works in a holistic manner to relieve depression and sadness by balancing liver, digestive, intestinal and nervous functions.

Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 is important for the production of energy and for proper nervous system function.

IV. Hyperhydration type (PMS-H)
Produces fluid retention with weight gain, breast tenderness, abdominal swelling and swelling of the hands and feet.
It is associated with elevated aldosterone. Diuretic herbs, including dandelion, parsley, and Kidney Activator (K) may reduce water retention. Consider adding hormonally-active herbs and foods such as black cohosh, Phyto Soy, whole grains, and green leafy vegetables. Supplemental magnesium, vitamin B6 and vitamin E, and Omega-3 oils from sources such as evening primrose oil may help.
